How your hourly paycheck is calculated
- Regular pay = hourly rate × regular hours in the pay period.
- Overtime pay = hourly rate × multiplier (default 1.5) × overtime hours.
- Gross paycheck = regular + overtime + bonus, per your pay frequency.
- Annualized = gross per check × checks per year.

FAQ
How is overtime calculated?
US federal law requires at least 1.5× the regular rate for hours over 40 in a week for non-exempt employees. Some states (like California) have daily overtime rules — use the multiplier field to approximate.
What's the difference between biweekly and semi-monthly?
Biweekly = every 2 weeks (26 checks a year, amounts can vary). Semi-monthly = twice a month (24 checks, usually fixed). Enter your hours accordingly.
Does it include taxes?
Gross pay is free and exact. Pro adds an estimated take-home using 2026 federal brackets, FICA and a state rate you enter.
